Choppers Inc. was started by Billy Lane in Melbourne, Florida in 1995. Bike building started as a hobby for Billy Lane. He'd make bike parts for his friends and family. They liked them so much that eventually Billy Lane figured he might as well start selling some of his creations. He was soon one of the most respected motorcycle craftsmen in the world.

Billy Lane has won numerous awards for his bikes and part designs. Though his output of bikes is quite low each year, the company remains one of the most influential in the world of choppers. Billy Lane's appearances on the Discovery Channel have certainly boosted his name recognition (along with that of his company).
