Von Dutch History
Von Dutch history begins with cars. Not many
clothing manufactures begin in the field of automobiles--but
Von Dutch is no ordinary
clothing designer. The elements that made pinstriped cars a
radical idea in the '50s continue to be present in today's
Von Dutch clothing.
The artist known as Von Dutch (aka Kenneth
Howard) began with something of an industrial art--pinstriping.
He essentially invented
custom pinstriping, taking lines in incredible swoops, sharp
angles and unexpected--sometimes intersecting--directions. While
such designs don't sound revolutionary now, they were absolutely
unprecedented when Von Dutch started working. He pinstriped hot
rods, motorcycles--even prosthetic limbs.
Von Dutch history took a sharp turn of its own when the company
that bears the man's name began to produce apparel and accessories.
His trucker
hats are among the most essential items in today's
celebrity closet. Justin Timberlake is responsible for the "discovery" of
Von Dutch, as his trucker hat ignited an explosion in the popularity
of the brand.
Continuing Von Dutch History
This is an interesting moment in
Von Dutch history--the man may be gone, but his influence is
more keenly felt today
than ever
before. Von
Dutch apparel is now available here at choppersapparel.com.
Out of respect for the man and his vision, we offer only
certified products from the Von Dutch company.
