Jesse James
Jesse James is one of the most fascinating
figures not just in the bike world, but in today's popular culture.
Bikes and
biking programs
have become more popular since The Discovery Channel began running "American
Chopper" and Jesse James "Monster
Garage." These
shows have been godsends for a great number of motorcycle enthusiasts,
and eye-opening experiences for many newcomers to the world of
choppers. Much of the reason for the success of these shows revolves
around the strong personalities involved, and Jesse has one of
the strongest personalities you're likely to come across.
Jesse James
great-great grandfather was the cousin of the famous outlaw who
bears the same name. The current Jesse, however, is an outlaw
of a different sort. He got his first minibike at the tender age
of seven, and soon biking was in his blood--his first attempts at
bike building came as a freshman in high school. One story has it
that one time he was trying to craft an exhaust system, and when
it didn't come off perfectly, he simply tossed it into the garbage.
That perfectionist streak would serve him well later on when he was
building his own company, West
Coast Choppers.
Today, WCC (West Coast Choppers) is one of
the world's leading manufacturers of premium motorcycles. Jesse James
may have his business and his television
show, but he never forgets the important things in life--he is incredibly
devoted to his family, and he treats his work with the respect and
passion of an artist. Many people take a lot of inspiration from
the lows and highs of his incredible journey.
